Established in 2014, Tomorrow’s Forests has built it’s reputation in the UK tree planting and establishment market based on knowledge and care for our work and our workforce. Our roots trace back to over 15 years of expertise in the Canadian forest industry, and we've brought that passion and knowledge to the heart of the UK, adding our unique twist to reforestation. Planting Dynamics:

Crew Composition: Our crews usually consist of 5 planters and 1 crew boss.
Shift Rotations: Depending on the work, we mostly follow a 4/1, 3/1 or 5/2 rotation.
Bareroots: A prevalent feature in the UK, these trees can be larger, but their lightweight nature (no soil around roots) makes life a little easier. The terrain here is majorly mounded or trenched, quite like the Alberta land in Canada.

PLANTERS

Working Season Insights:

Gear: Planters must bring their own planting equipment like Canadian bushpro (or similar), including shovels and bags. We provide PPE where required.
Work stream: From October to April, work is consistent and mainly in England. Summer work will be offered to those who wish to continue with us post planting season.
Shift Work: General shift work patterns are 3 days on/1 day off or 4 days on/1 day off. However, civic projects require a Monday-Friday workweek.
Accommodation: We provide housing, often in the form of holiday cottages or Airbnb rentals. While accommodations are mostly upscale, you might occasionally share a room with a colleague of the same gender.
Cost: Camp cost is £20/day for planters, and free for foremen or drivers.
Work Nature: Our projects span across woodland creation, forestry, motorways, railways, and construction sites. We primarily deal with stakes, tubes, and conifer forestry blocks.
Earnings: Competitive pay scales based on the nature and complexity of the work.

Planters

Essential Requirements:

Visa: Commonwealth citizens need a Tier 5 Youth mobility visa. More details can be found here. It usually takes 3-6 weeks for visa processing.
Work Protocols: We maintain a strict NO DRUG policy, given our work nature. Testing may occur anytime.
Tax Implications: As a self-employed sub-contractor, you'll be responsible for your tax filings. You'll also be invoicing us for completed work.
Certifications: Depending on the project, you might need a CSCS card or a safety-critical medical assessment, both of which we'll facilitate.

We're always on the lookout for experienced planters and foremen, but we also welcome newcomers with the right spirit. The UK planting scene might take some adjusting to, but the experience is immensely rewarding.
